New giant cranes are now being used in the 3rd Bosporus Bridge Project by ICA. There has been a change in the method of steel deck placement procedure. Now, 3.000-ton carrying capacity sliding cranes consisting of 2 parts will be used for lifting the steel decks. The remaining 17 steel decks will be lifted with sliding cranes.

3. 3rd Bridge Field Supervisor said, “Lifting Gantry consists of 2 parts to be installed on the main cable; each part weighs 190 tons. Previously "Derrick Crane” was used. It was on the steel decks and lifted the next deck by anchoring itself on the previous deck. We will be using a new system here. Montage of the sliding crane has been made on the D14 steel deck. At this stage, the new giant crane (lifting gantry) will be lifted sideways to pass between the main cable and rotated 90 degrees with the help of a rotating stand on the main cable. All of these processes, as well as steel deck lifting works will be done simultaneously in European and Asian sides.”
